Nissan has updated its two-seat sports car for 2027 with a design refresh that pulls directly from earlier Z generations, alongside real mechanical gains: GT-R-derived brake rotors and a new six-speed manual for Z NISMO, larger shock absorbers for Z Performance, and a revised fuel tank shared across the entire lineup. The changes sit on top of a car that already carries a twin-turbocharged V6, rear-wheel drive layout, and a choice of manual or automatic transmission on every grade. Ottawa drivers who commute along the 417 corridor or head out toward the Gatineau hills on weekends will find the 2027 Z on the ground now at 417 Nissan, with Sport, Performance, and NISMO grades available to compare and test drive.
What’s new on the 2027 Nissan Z?
Exterior
The clearest visual change is up front, where a new split grille with a body-colour bar replaces the previous single opening, styled after the original 240Z, known as the S30. A Z badge now sits on the nose in place of the Nissan emblem across every grade, a callback shared with the S30, S130, Z31, and Z32 generations. The redesign also required engineers to rework the front parking sensor packaging to fit the new grille shape without giving up cooling capacity.
For 2027, Z Performance receives redesigned 19-inch forged wheels with black spokes and a machined-finish rim, mounted with Bridgestone Potenza tires. A new Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic paint option joins the palette on Sport and Performance, always paired with a Super Black roof; the colour references Grand Prix Green from the S30 era and uses fine yellow and blue pigments to resist fading over time, with a light metallic flake that emphasizes the car’s body lines.
Interior
Every 2027 Z keeps its 2-passenger cabin layout, centred on an 8-inch touchscreen and a fully digital TFT instrument cluster. A 3-bay gauge cluster mounted on the dash, tracking turbo boost, turbine speed, and voltmeter, comes standard alongside the main digital display on all three grades. Sport grade uses 8-way manual black woven cloth seats, while Performance steps up with synthetic suede inserts or leather-appointed seating, a heated driver’s seat, and its own seat cushion and bolster shape.
New for this model year, Performance grade can be ordered with a tan interior, drawing from the S30’s original colour palette and set against black trim on the upper dash and doors. NISMO sits above both with leather-and-Alcantara Recaro seats built specifically for that grade and NISMO badging throughout the cabin. Sport and Performance also gain a new startup animation on the digital meter display that cycles through seven generations of Z, while NISMO retains its own unique startup sequence and meter graphics.

Powertrain
Every 2027 Z is powered by the same VR30DDTT 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6, using a DOHC layout, direct injection, and Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control. Sport and Performance produce 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, while Z NISMO’s tuned version of the engine makes 420 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. A new fuel tank design across the lineup keeps fuel positioned near the pump during hard, sustained cornering, which matters on the winding sections out past Wakefield as much as it does on a track.
Technology
An 8-inch touchscreen is standard across the 2027 lineup, running Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming and hands-free calling, Siri Eyes Free, hands-free text messaging, and voice recognition. Sport pairs this with a 6-speaker Nissan audio system, while Performance and NISMO move up to an 8-speaker Bose system with Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement, retuned for 2027 to work with the new manual transmission option. Performance and NISMO further add NissanConnect with WiFi hotspot access and NissanConnect Services telematics.
Powertrain & Safety
Rear-wheel drive with a mid-mounted front engine remains the layout for every grade. A 6-speed close-ratio manual with an EXEDY high-performance clutch is standard across Sport, Performance, and NISMO, with a 9-speed automatic available on Sport and Performance. New for NISMO this year is an available six-speed manual of its own, built with a shorter shift lever ratio, an upgraded clutch, and manual-specific throttle and ignition tuning. Performance and NISMO both add a mechanical limited-slip differential.
Standard safety features across every grade include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise Control, a RearView Monitor, and front and rear parking sensors. Performance and NISMO also offer a new Qi2 wireless charger with 15-watt output, magnetic alignment, and a cooling fan for longer highway stretches.
